Int. Script Session - Day

Picture

Monthly Script Sessions – Table Reads for Writers, Actors, and Creatives Are you a writer, actor, or filmmaker looking to develop your work or connect with others in the local creative community? Join us for our Monthly Script Sessions, a casual and supportive space where scripts are read aloud and discussed by fellow storytellers.

What It Is
Script Sessions are open to anyone interested in storytelling—whether you're writing short films, plays, pilots, or just exploring screenwriting for the first time. Writers bring scripts, and actors and participants read them aloud as a group. Discussions follow each reading, offering helpful feedback and fresh perspective.

When & Where
We meet on the first Monday of every month, usually starting around 6:00 PM, at the Downtown Nanaimo Library. Occasionally, times or locations may change, so please check in with us if you're unsure.

How It Works

Writers are encouraged to bring in a short script or scene—ideally 10 pages or less, or about 10 minutes of reading time. We project scripts onto a wall so everyone can follow along. Actors and participants take turns reading the roles, followed by a group discussion.

Who It's For
These sessions are for writers, actors, filmmakers, and anyone interested in creative storytelling. Actors are especially encouraged to join—your voice brings the scripts to life, and it’s a great way to meet local writers and directors.

Educational Value
Although informal, these sessions offer a valuable opportunity for learning and growth. Hearing your work read aloud highlights what’s working—and what’s not—and hearing others’ work can expand your own storytelling skills. It's a collaborative space where all levels are welcome.
